Isabella Air Cirrus North 400 - Inflatable Caravan Awning
Isabella AIR sets new standards in air awnings.
Buckle up, because there are A LOT of very good things to say about this amazing awning, the winner of the best awning category in Tourer of the Year Awards 2020 by the Practical Caravan.
This astonishing air awning fits caravans with rail height between 242-255cm and is provided with 2 beading diameter options (4 and 6mm). Once installed, it will provide you with a generous depth of 275cm, 400cm width and vertical walls, creating an incredibly spacious living area with high ceiling. This enormous space can be further increased with an optional inflatable Annexe North to go onto the left or right-hand side of your Cirrus. The annexe has an extra high zip opening in the sides, making it feel like an integral part of the awning. This supplies you with multifunctional additional room, measuring 6m². If you choose two annexes, you will DOUBLE the area of your awning.
The IsaAir System:
Isabella developed a revolutionary mechanism for inflating your awning. It consists of no poles whatsoever; Cirrus is made solely of air beams. Even the front canopy - which protects the awning from the elements while providing a pleasant shade - is kept stable by air beams. Those air beams consist of three layers for airtightness and stability.
The IsaAir system has just one inflation point for pumping, which is located in the middle of the front panel. You cannot see it when the awning is erected, as this single inflation point is neatly covered by the awning's material, adding to the fabulousness of the design.
Inside, you will see a modular air system, with a valve connection between all modules, allowing you to simply isolate an air beam (after closing the valve connection to the other modules) and replace it, without having to take the awning down. The innovative On/Off switch indicates clearly if it is open or closed.
To further facilitate setting up your Cirrus, you will receive Isabella's innovative air pump as standard; why is it innovative you ask? First, the tube is unusually wide and big comparing to other pumps - this allows you to push much more air in at once, meaning less pumping for you. Once you get to a certain pressure, you will not be able to move it any further, which is when you flip a switch on the pump which makes the tube go smaller and thinner - this will allow you to easily pump extra air in, providing your Cirrus with optimal pressure.
With the IsaAir system and the high-performance hand pump supplied as standard, inflating your Cirrus will be a breeze. First, make sure all the On/Off switches on the connection valves are rotated to 'On'. Subsequently, simply insert the hand pump into the single inflation point. The pump will not allow you to overinflate your awning thanks to the pressure release valve. Once inflated, close the inflation point and turn the connection valves to 'Off'. Voila - that's how easy it is to set up your Isabella Air Cirrus North 400. Of course, deflation is even easier - just open the inflation point and turn the switches to 'On'; the Air Cirrus will do its magic.
The video shows the inflation instructions in practice:
Although Air Cirrus 400 is a brand new awning with some new revolutionary features, Isabella hasn't forgotten about their traditional high-quality materials and design. The walls and gables of Cirrus are made of Isabella's well known Isacryl 295g/m², their optimal, durable, breathable, fibre-dyed acrylic material. Isacryl has the highest achievable fade-resistance thanks to the pigmentation method. The density of the weave plus the impregnation all the way through prevents water ingress. Nevertheless, Isacryl is a breathable material, which facilitates the best possible indoor climate in the awning.
The colourfastness is especially important for this awning, as it would be a crime to lose its beautiful looks. Air Cirrus is part of Isabella's North colour concept, i.e. subdued colours with clear references to Nordic nature. It comes in the following soothing colourway:
The roof, on the other hand, is made of IsaRoof Light 240g/m² which, as the name suggests, is lightweight compared to many other materials, decreasing the weight of Cirrus. However, its lightness does not threaten this IsaRoof's quality; it is treated with three layers of breathable fabric, further promoting a comfortable indoor atmosphere of your air awning. IsaRoof Light is made of a UV-resistant polyester textile, which helps to keep the awning interior at a comfortable and pleasant temperature. To further improve the indoor temperature homeostasis of your Cirrus and to minimise the natural process of condensation, Isabella recommends purchasing an inner roof, read about it at the bottom of the page.
What makes Cirrus the place to be in hot weathers, is the plentiful supply of ventilation; even the slightest breezes will enter your awning through the large mosquito nets present on both side panels. These will, of course, also keep the annoying bugs out of your oasis. In colder climates, you can easily zip the mosquito nets with the external foil. The front panel windows, on the other hand, are large and crystal clear, being made of Isabella's highest quality materials, allowing you to watch the world go by from the confines of your comfortable living space. These windows, together with the light panels in the roof, will allow a natural inflow of sunlight. If you decide on Annexe North, it will also provide you with a full-of-light area, as it contains large windows on all of its three panels.
